My Name is John-Avery Savage and I am from Wake forest, North Carolina. I am the youngest in a family of four. I was born in Columbus MS and was raised in Myrtle beach, South Carolina.
I am currently attending South Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and I am a senior in the undergraduate program there. I am seeking to earn a B.A in Global studies. This degree is primarily focused on training future missionaries and seeks to equip students with an understanding of World culture, religions and how to engage both with the Gospel. I will graduate in the summer of 2018 and will continue on at South Eastern and seek to gain a Masters in Cultural studies.
I am a part of First Baptist Church Durham, where the Lord has allowed me to work with Chinese international students. I teach English there on Wednesday and have a great chance to build relationships with the students that come. God has given me a heart for East Asian peoples and a desire to see them won for the Kingdom of God. I plan on working with East Asians in some form or fashion for the majority of my life. I am very excited to be working with these people in their cultural context.
I am very excited about seeing how God is moving in Taiwan through Todd and the rest of the missionaries. I am also excited about learning from Todd, but more than that, I am excited about serving alongside of Brian and Todd through the beginning of 2018. Thank you for all the prayer and support you have given Todd and also the support you have given to me through prayer. To God be the glory.
